I was listening to my Zune this morning and was shuffling through all my songs and came upon Hot Chip, which I haven't heard in a long time. So I wanted to see if they had anything new. Come to find out, they have a new CD out "Made in the Dark", which came out last year. So as you can see, I lost touch with the band but not anymore. I have been listening to them for most of the morning now. Hot Chip is a Grammy-nominated Britishelectropop band. They have released three studio albums—Coming on Strong, The Warning, and Made in the Dark. The Warning was named Album of the Year by Mixmag and voted the fourth best album of 2006 by NME. I would have to say Warning album has some great tracks and is worth getting a copy. This album spawned also two UK top forty singles: "Over and Over" in March 2006 and "Boy from School" in May 2006. "Over and Over" received attention for its music video, which was directed by Nima Nourizadeh, and was also named as the best single of 2006 by British music magazine NME.
This video has some great concepts on how anything can be art. Plus this is a great song. Don't forget to check out their other music video's they are all good.

The sounds of Goddamn Electric Bill were never meant to leave Jason Torbert’s bedroom. But the one-man band, a propulsive blend of ambient electronic, folktronica and post-rock music, made its way out to the world anyway.
Goddamn Electric Bill just recently just release a new CD "Topic for Gossip" which is amazing with its folktronica sound. If you are into some great chilled out music then this is the group for you. He also has one of his songs used in a new upcoming movie called Spooner. Which looks to be good movie.

I was cruising on the internet highway and was looking up stuff for illustrator and I stumble upon Poked Studio Portfolio. I found this site interesting for the fact that I am a sucker for strange looking cartoonish characters. Poke Studio's creates innovative and creative visual solutions all with a healthy measure of fun. Who doesn't like that. They have had a nice collection of big name clients like MTV, BBC, PlayStation and FHM Magazine. Well enough babble from me check out the site and see for yourself.
We are in constant view of icons while searching the web. They are used to to decorate or spruce up your site or to have a function. They are even used to decorate your desktop as well. I would have to say this was my first t-shirt exhibit show that I have ever attended. It was a successful one at that. They had an organized way of ordering your t-shirt while still making it easy for the ones who may have had to much to drink. The coolest thing about the t-shirt exhibit was that your shirt was pressed right then and there. The company that was used to print the t-shirts on site was Vertical Merch which they did a excellent job in printing out my t-shirt. The two t-shirts that seemed to be the most popular were 'Pale Horse' T-shirt gold ink and Julie West' T-shirt turquoise ink. Lastly I can not forget the best part of the evening. Scott Hansen also known as Tycho for his music and ISO50 for his design pseudonym. I got a chance to speak with Scott and I would have to say he is a very down to earth guy. He is very passionate about everything that he does and you can tell that by his work that he produces. Scott also had one of his t-shirt designs displayed at the exhibit and had other works of art for sale at his Tycho/ISO50 booth.
I have been a fan of Tycho since seeing him perform at Movement 2008 and when I found out he was playing in Tampa, Florida. I had to check it out. His performance was extraordinary not only is his mixing skills but also in his visual effects mixing. He was doing both at the same time on his slick Vestax vcm600 mixer. His music choices for the evening made my feet move. If you missed this event then you missed out on a good night of art and music. If you're anything like me, you like music... lots of it. If you're like me you are a pack rat. A bad combination, because now you're collecting lots of vinyl music. And you're collecting CDs too, let’s not forget those. CDs play and store better than our dusty collection of vinyl music, we use them regularly.
Now you must ask yourself... When was the last time you played one of your vinyl music? Do you have a turntable/record player? How many times have you moved since the last time you played one of your records? You might realize that you don't play them anymore.
Every year since 2000 Detroit has thrown an Electronic music festival during Memorial Day weekend. This festival showcases the quality culture of the electronic scene. Movement: Detroit Electronic Music Festival has been known by different names over the course of 9 year. Following the first three events under the name Detroit Electronic Music Festival (2000–2002) were Movement (2003–2004), Fuse-In (2005) and currently, Movement: Detroit's Electronic Music Festival (2006–present), with each name change reflecting shifts in festival management. (Wikipedia 2009).
Movement is held in downtown Detroit in Hart Plaza. Hart Plaza has often been reported as being well in excess of the 14-acre (57,000 m2) venue's capacity of 40,000 people. It is a great place for a festival. You have different places among the grounds to explore and different stages set up above and below grounds.
I personally have been to almost all of the Movement parties except for 2006-2007. This is a party that you will want to attend. The people, lights, sounds, music and atmosphere are what make this party a hit. They always have some big name dj that everyone is looking to see but what happens when you get there is that you are blown away by the other artist that you might not have heard of before. This is what makes these festivals great. It is a way to expand your music taste and to meet others from around the world that shares a common interest to the scene.
Movement 2009 is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2009 through Monday, May 25, 2009 in Hart Plaza in Detroit, Michigan. This is the 10th year of the festival. Starting at Noon on Saturday, May 23 Techno heads, House heads and electronic dance music enthusiasts from across the globe will pour through the turnstiles at Detroit’s Hart Plaza for the start of Movement 2009. And for the next three days and nights they will have a chance to experience the ultimate outdoor electronic music venue. 36 hours of music; 4 stages and more than 70 electronic music artists and DJs. Last year’s attendance nearly reached 80,000 over the three days of the festival.

They offer a wide range of free services and also have some premium services that can be purchased. The best premium services that they offer to me is the digital distribution. What they do is distribute your CD and tracks to various mp3 distributors like Itunes, Amazon, Napster. They distribute up to 10 different music stores. You also collect 100% of the proceeds and they also offer different promo material to help boost the sales of your CD.
