I was super excited when I found out about Wordmark.it from the Jetstreamprojector's Blog. It was a great find and something I'm sure a lot of you out there would appreciate. Wordmark.it is a site that allows you to preview all the fonts installed on your machine. All you have to do is just type in whatever word you want and bam! It gives you a visual representation of what it will look like with the font's installed on your machine. Just like in the above image. The creator behind this site is Fahri Özkaramanlı and let me be one of the people that thanks you for creating this. It will now save me a lot of time from sitting there going through my fonts to find the right one. Now I can do it in a one stop shop in less time and for that I thank you.
This was an interesting project that I found on Behance this morning by Chris Berthe. The time it took to make these 3D letters using paper must have taken a while. Chris states that his project originally was created with a flat typeface in mind, paper & love is based on an octagonal grid and origami folds. The digital version represents this concept of origami by emphasizing transparency and by focusing on the shapes of the letter. The majority of the two-dimensional letters can be obtained by simply folding thin strips of paper and by following the octagonal grid. By taking what I had initially envisioned for the digital version, I created a new set of letters in 3D using paper, an x-acto knife and, of course, love (corny but true)!
Paper & Love Typeface
Tom Davie from Studiotwentysix2 has put together a nice typographic note card set. They come with a set of 10 cards plus envelopes. These offset lithographic cards were printed on Mohawk Superfine 80lb. cover stock, an eco-friendly paper. The accompanying envelopes are a beautiful steel blue paper stock and are 100% recycled. This beautiful note card set will run you about $13.95. So if you love typography, design and letter writing, then these cards were made for you. If you think you need to improve your typeface knowledge while increasing your memory. Then this is the game for you. It was designed and assembled by Brazilian design studio, ps.2 arquitetura + design. The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Dog typeface memory game will run you about whopping $30 bucks but it will impress your graphic design friends.
It's a very attractive finished typographic memory game that includes 25 variations of the letter "A" each in a different letter type. Players attempt to find the matching A’s in the same letter type. The player who has the highest number of matching letters wins the game.
Typographic information about the letter is included on the card, and a separate folder provides a general history of the typography. This is an enjoyable and instructive game for graphic designers and anyone who is fascinated by letter types.
As you play, you increasingly recognize what are often very subtle differences between the letters and more about the details of the letter types. They become progressively easier to recognize and distinguish from one another (even Univers and Helvetica!) Among the letter types included in the game are Akzidenz Grotesk, Baskerville, Centaur, Garamond, Helvetica Rockwell, Times New Roman, Univers and many more.

Typeface Memory Game
Alex Varanese, who is from the San Francisco area caught my attention with his stylish design and typography use. Plus, I'm sucker for vintage urban cultural design. Alex also has a knack for designing custom typography which you can actually see in most of his works. I'd have to say, I'm impressed with the color palette choices and each one of his designs pops out with their own unique style. It's also quite amusing to read some of his thoughts on his designs. So below are some of his works and if you're interested he also has some iphone wallpapers that you can download for FREE to give your iphone style. If you want to keep up with his work then follow him on twitter.

I have been reading up on some styles of typography lately and learning some more in-dept understanding of type and fonts. So that I can have a better understanding of typography and to assist in my creativity when it comes to design. Then while I was doing my research I came across some typographic posters that I wanted to share.

For Your Typographic Viewing Eyes
I have been working on a logo design for a company and sometimes I get a little blocked when it comes to picking the right kinds of fonts to go with my design. Then I received an email from my boss with an article on "Four Ways to Mix Fonts" by H&FJ. This article came in handy for helping me work with the fonts that I have and finding ones that will complement each other. H&FJ's Highly Scientific First Principle of Combining Fonts is: keep one thing consistent, and let one thing vary. It is basically the interplay between the fonts that can give the mood for the design. They talk about making different palettes to assist in choosing your fonts. The four they talk about are wit, energy, poise, and dignity. I highly recommend this article to anyone who is in design or is looking to have more knowledge in fonts.
