The internet is filled with inspiration from a story to an image. We as people find ideas and inspiration in many avenues amongst the cloud that we call the internet. So today let me introduce to you Designspiration. It was founded by Shelby White, a Seattle based graphic designer and owner of Wanken Blog and co-writer on ISO50 blog.
Designspiration took Shelby about 10 months for his idea of growing a community full of inspiration. This minimalist designed platform seems simple but it is full of great features to help you find your inspiration quickly and neatly. Some of the features are the live type search, color search and easy keyboard navigation. After toying with this site I quickly added this to my favorites. If you want to read about Shelby's thought process then check out the post on ISO50.
If you would like to get involved in sharing your works on Designspiration it's membership driven by those who are already members. So send an email to to register AT designspiration.net with a link to your portfolio or the type of inspiration you’d be uploading.
Shelby will be doing a live broadcast on Tuesday, December 14th at 12pm(noon) PST to talk about the project and anything design or photography related. So if you have questions he will bring the answers. Happy hunting.
I came across Network Osaka on Flickr and man was I satisfied with what I found. This guy has some great talent and he should. He has been doing graphic design since way back in 1992 on his Macintosh LC.
When I was reading up about him on his about page. He said something about graphic design that caught my attention. He said, as a designer, I strive to engineer form and function in complete harmony. Removing unnecessary design elements and having a concise and direct approach to design problems will ultimately create a successful product valued for both its content and its design.
I went through his Flickr sets and picked out some of my favorites. If you get a chance check out his Flickr and his Website. You won't be disappointed.

What makes a person influential without taking into account statistical or a metric approach? That is the attempt being made in this short documentary INFLUENCERS. It explores what it means to be an influencer and how trends and creativity become contagious today in music, fashion and entertainment. Influencers focuses on what is commonly referred to as “Lifestyle Culture or Influential Young Adults Market” in the areas of music, fashion, and entertainment. The documentary does not pretend to offer an analysis of what is influence under all its forms (economic, political, environmental…).
It's only a 14 minute documentary but it has a good message and it gets your mind running on how your creativity can change trends. You can watch the whole documentary in HD on their site.
Matthew Billington is a poster designer from Vancouver, Canada. In his designs he likes using eye-catching, puzzling methodology of cutting and pasting in his poster designs. I couldn't find a whole lot of information on him but I was pulled into his works. I have yet to try the cut and paste of designing. So when I see something like Matthew's work. It gives me some inspiration to give it a shot and see what I can come up with. That is the great part about designing is that others works are great inspiration and motivation to continue the learning process as a designer. So today maybe find someone you get some inspiration from and leave a comment and let me know who has inspired you.
Alex Varanese, who is from the San Francisco area caught my attention with his stylish design and typography use. Plus, I'm sucker for vintage urban cultural design. Alex also has a knack for designing custom typography which you can actually see in most of his works. I'd have to say, I'm impressed with the color palette choices and each one of his designs pops out with their own unique style. It's also quite amusing to read some of his thoughts on his designs. So below are some of his works and if you're interested he also has some iphone wallpapers that you can download for FREE to give your iphone style. If you want to keep up with his work then follow him on twitter.
I have finally generated a new website which showcases my photography and graphic design works. To build it I used WIX.com which is a Webtop publishing platform that lets users create any kind of web content (web sites, widgets, blogs, myspace layouts) and publish that content anywhere they want. WIX provides all that you require to create adequate exposure. It offers a simpler, faster and better ways for you to build Flash web content. Another great thing about this platform is that you can have an amazing flash website without needing to know any code. Wix does this without the need to use complex publishing systems and without being constrained by the limitations of template based solutions. It also provides a simple SEO friendly solution to make sure you're getting found online. You get all this absolutely free although if you're looking for more perks then maybe upgrading to a monthly plan might be your deal.
This will be my second site that I have built using this publishing platform and I couldn't be happier with the outcomes of both sites. If your an entrepreneur and your looking for a way to build a site for your business with ease then give WIX.com a try. If your interested in checking out my portfolio website then click the image below or click the portfolio button in the main menu.
It seems that Matthew Lyons has produced a new series called "Locations". If you haven't heard of him then let me tell you about him. He is a big buzz at this time on blogosphere and design world with his unique and 50’s-esque brand of image-making. His retro-contemporary vision is certainly making a place for itself. Matthew uses many saturated color, moody lighting and “grit” which make for a vintage style that is being recognized by many. Matthew has a very good eye for color and for finding the right composition to use in his work. You can read a post by ISo50 that goes into the thought process of one of Matthew's pieces to have an in-depth look at how his design process flows.
When I was at Bonnaroo they had a workshop in which you could make your own instrument. So within an hour I had completed making my own musical instrument. Which I thought was pretty cool. So when I found this video of Diego Stocco and his Bassoforte I had to share it with you the reader. There is nothing like making an instrument to get your creativity moving.
To create his instrument Diego dismantled parts of a piano he had in his garden and also used some other parts that he had laying around his home and generated the Bassoforte (bass + pianoforte). He states that the neck is from a broken electric bass, as a bridge he used a cabinet handle, the pickups are from a guitar, and the part at the top where the strings are attached is a chimney cap, which works as resonator as well as percussive sound.
It has come to my attention that people in Japan have a lot of interesting concepts when it comes to finding space and utilizing it. This triangle house was designed by Ryoichi “Kodi” Kojima and Hiroshi Ono, the house features a wooden frame and a strong base reinforced with concrete. It's a beautiful 3-story triangular house which is located in Kawasaki City,Japan. The interior and exterior of this home were well thought out with it's stylish modern decor. If I lived in Japan I would definitely hire these designers to design my living space. They have the style and minimalistic ideas as I.
