Talk about a beautifully designed weather app to give you what you need in looks and information. David Elgena is the creator behind the Braun/Dieter Rams inspired weather iphone app called Wthr. The app is very nicely done and I’d say it would be cool to have although after reading the comments it still has an issue with turning off and on the GPS, I'm sure they will get it fixed quick.
It seems the iPhone gets another sweet music app that the Android lacks, although I'm hoping Swedish Propellerhead (the makers of Reason) will make it for the Android as well. Figure is not your run of the mill beat grid style music app. This app is not only eye popping but it has controls that will make it easy for anyone to make music in minutes. They even have a thorough overview on their site on how to operate Figure and for a .99 cent app. You can't beat this (pun intended).
“I think we as an industry haven’t been that great about inviting people in who don’t have deep dreams about becoming big stars or understanding everything about music production, it’s time for that: I think everyone should be invited to be part of this. Figure is a small step towards that.” – says chief executive Ernst Nathorst Böös.
I'm not sure which I like better the packaging for this product or for the cool wood back panels. Monolith the company behind these designs has created three clean elegant wood back panels that come in oak, teak or walnut for the iPhone 4 or 4s. From what I can tell they're complete back panel replacement and I'm only assuming since it will run you $55 bucks for one of these. So if you want to make your high-tech glass and metal iPhone a little bit classier then you can head over to Monolith and pre-order one today.
Bang & Olufsen have just announced a new brand, a follow up from the company's previous release, the BeoSound 8 sound system. The B&O Play Beolit 12 Portable Music System ($800) was designed by Danish designer Cecile Manz, the Beolit 12 has a stylish sleek look that's topped off with an Italian leather carrying strap, and is equipped with Apple's AirPlay. It has a built-in power supply and a rechargeable battery which can charge an iPhone or any other connected device and play back music for about 8 hours. It currently comes in the gray style but the company is releasing later this month the yellow, blue and light gray versions of this music system. It will also be available as well in the Apple Stores as the company's authorized outlets.
The Table Drum Augmented Audio App allows iOS devices to turn that constant finger drumming into digitized drum sounds, in real time. The app works like a drum pad instead of the other apps out there where you have to tap the screen to trigger a sound. All you have to do now is tap away anywhere you like and the app uses the microphone to listen for the taps from your fingers. It can distinguish between 4 different sounds. So the sound of your finger tapping your desk at work could be the bass, while tapping on your coffee cup could be your high hats.
If I had an iPhone I would definitely get this app so I could annoy my coworkers around me with my sweet drumming skills. This apps is now http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifavailable at the iTunes Store for $3.99, so if you have an iPhone get this app today and start virtually drumming away.
Are you that guy? Do you have all the apple products. Do like anything with an "i" in front of it. Then check out the Polyply which most would want to call it the iEverything. The stand which was designed by Andrew Kim holds iEverything in a manner that makes it easy to charge and orient as secondary (and subsequent) display. It was constructed out of acrylate polymer (acrylic plastic), birch plywood & birch. It holds an iPad, iPod Classic, iPhone 4 and a stylus. So let me know if you would rock this.
Your into making music but your looking to take it further. Well if you have an iPad then be ready to bring your sound to the next level with the Performer ($24.99). An app that was made by Konkreet Labs. It allows you to control your music with a unique and intuitive multi-touch interface that let's you reshape your music on screen and in real time. There is one catch though to using this app and its that you have to actually have musical instruments for Performer to control (it connects to "anything that receives OSC or MIDI inputs," according to Konkreet).
So if you have the equipment your in for a fun surprise of making peoples jaws drop. As Creative Applications breathlessly writes, "The heart of Performer is the control object, an abstract graphic element, made out of up to 10 nodes. Zoom, turn, throw, distort and reshape it across the screen," and listen as your synthy symphony bursts into being from your fingertips.
I don't own an iPhone 4 or an iPad but if I did I would definitely be getting one of these Pantone cases. Any designer would agree. Monaco-based Case Scenario has linked up with Pantone and as a result, you get nine colors for the iPhone 4, ranging from the deep Pantone Blue 7462 to the juicy Pantone Pink 226. For iPad, the Fall fashion colors are Pantone Black, Pantone Cool Grey, Pantone Blue 7462 and Pantone Red 711.
If your looking for more licensed tech ideas they also have the Pantone color Library App for the iPhone. There is also the myPANTONE X-Ref App which would be good for those that are looking for ways to convert screen RGB color formulations into paints for print and your home.
Now for the people that are like me and don't have an apple product then your still in lucky. Pantone offers other products that range from bikes, storage bins, kitchen containers, and of course those all time favorite coffee mugs.
If you end up getting a crappy gift from your aunt Sally this Christmas. Then take it back and get you one of these products. It's got to be better than that sad excuse for a polyester sweater with reindeer on it.
So there seems to be a big buzz about a new FREE iPad app called Flipboard. This app gives you a reason to feel good about your decision to drop $500 bucks or more on your iPad. Flipboard is a new "social magazine" application that grabs info from your Facebook and Twitter feeds, as well as from other sources around the web, and presents them in a magazine-like layout, complete with large images, clean typefaces, and a general panache that goes well beyond the average client. This app from watching the video posted below makes me want to open my wallet just to have this app. Flipboard is more than likely the cream of the crop on being able to integrate your content to make it easier and more organized so that your always up to date on social media. If you don't think so watch the video.
P.S. The music in the video is a cover of the Aphex Twin song Flim by the jaz trio The Bad Plus.
There are now a number of apps like PocketGuitar, Virtuoso, Ocarina and DigiDrummer which can make your phone into a virtual symphony. So today I found a couple of people who have put down there instruments and have picked up there iPhones, iPod Touches and other devices that can generate sounds.

The first band is iBand who are truly unique group of musicians. The band's first YouTube video generated over 4.8 million views. Their song "Vitality has also been a huge hit. The applications that they choose to use are iAno, PocketGuitar, IphoneSynth and BeatPhone.

Foursquare is a app for the iPhone, Blackberry, Palm and Android phones in which it allows you to tell people where you have checked-in at. From the Foursquare website they state people use foursquare to "check-in", which is a way of telling us your whereabouts. When you check-in someplace, we'll tell your friends where they can find you and recommend places to go & things to do nearby. People check-in at all kind of places - cafes, bars, restaurants, parks, homes, offices.
Foursquare offers points when you check-in to different places as well. Find a new place in your neighborhood? +5 points. Making multiple stops in a night? +2 points. Dragging friends along with you? +1. If you are always going to the same spots you could earn the title of Mayor. If you do earn that title Foursquare has a list of freebies that they mayor can get at those spots. It is a interesting application that can keep your social status updated and lets people know where you are and what your doing. Many of these types of programs are popping up now in 2010 so the question is do you want to join in on the fun?
Just had lunch with a friend and we were talking about comics. That's right comics cause well let's face it there awesome. He started talking to me about a program that would allow you to read comics on your iphone. So I thought why not let others know about this sweet app.
Panelfly which is a free app (App Store Link) let’s you purchase, read, and download your comics right from your iPhone or iPod touch. It has some of the biggest names in comics including Marvel and they have hundreds of titles to pick from. Panelfy’s has a well-designed interface which makes reading each issue as easy as possible. Now if you’re thinking that the iPhone or iPod touch is just to small then no worries. Panelfly will be available on the iPad in March of 2010 to give you a bigger experience.
Side note: Tycho Song "The Daydream" playing in the background.
Apple has unveiled it's new Tablet called the iPad. Apple will sell the newly unveiled tablet-style iPad starting at $499 which is a lot cheaper than most would have expected from Apple. The new iPad looks to be just a overly large version of the iPhone which I think most will agree in that department.
The iPad has a 9.7-inch touch screen, is a half-inch thick, weighs 1.5 pounds and comes with 16, 32 or 64 gigabytes of flash memory storage.Carrying a custom 1 GHz "Apple A4" chip, the iPad weighs in at 1.5 pounds and is .5-inch thin. All iPad models have an accelerometer, compass, speakers, a microphone, and a 30-pin dock connector. It will also have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity built in. The iPad screen is an OLED back lit which is a plus. Just a note on the iPad it does not allow you to run more than one app at a time. Jobs said the device has a battery that lasts 10 hours and can sit for a month on standby without needing a charge. The basic iPad models will cost $499, $599 and $699, depending on the storage size. The iPad will start shipping in 60 days. And, then later, they will have 3G models. The Non-3G models will be available in March.
Now if your looking for an iPad that has 3G services you will have to wait longer and pay more in price and also have a subscription with AT&T for the data plan. AT&T will have two tiers of data plan will be available without contracts: $14.99 per month for 250 megabytes of data, or $29.99 for unlimited data usage. The 3G models will cost you $629, $729 and $829, depending on the amount of memory. These models will be available in April.
Jobs said the iPad will also be better for playing games and watching video than either a laptop or a smart phone. The iPad comes with software including a calendar, maps, a video player and iPod software for playing music. All seem to have been slightly redesigned to take advantage of the iPad's bigger screen. Applications designed for the iPhone can run on the iPad. Apple is also releasing updated tools for software developers to help them build iPhone and iPad programs.
Now here comes the task of convincing the consumer that they need this product. So many of use out there already have laptops and smartphones. Is this something that you think you would use or want. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
