This is a unique and very angular home, which was created for a family of four who were looking for a modern styled home. I think they were able to accomplish their goals on having a modern and yet unique structure home. The homes exterior and interior are designed with good style. The kitchen and the bathroom setup alone would make me want to get this house. I think a kitchen can make or break a home. That's just my opinion. What do you think can make or break a house?
The DJM-2000 ($2999) is a pretty expensive mixer but it sits at the top of Pioneer's DJ line. This mixer which weighs about 20lbs is a heavy duty mixing machine. The mixer as you can see has a sizable multi-touch, multi-fucntion screen sitting just above the crossfader. It also houses everything famous from DJM 800 and E-effect 500 & 1000 and some of the SVM1000. So anyone that has used a Pioneer DJM prior should be able to walk up and use this bad boy. Beth Hoeckel an artist from Baltimore has pieced together a nice collection of collage's called "Point of View". Each of her collages shown are made with found paper and archival paste. So there is no digital manipulation going on here. The style and the feel of these collages remind me of some 70's art but I'm liking it. Ryan Kothe explores the rapid decay of everyday objects in his short stop motion animation video. It's quite an interesting concept to think about. Who really thinks about the how something decays. I'm sure this happens to all of us where we just have some unruly cords on our desk that have a mind of their own. Instead of staying put when you unplug your devices. They decide to book it for behind the desk and then on to the floor, leaving you on your hands and knees looking for the cord. This house which was designed by Morris Partnership Architecture is located in a rural area of Australia. I have never been to Australia but if I was to visit I would definitely check out this house if I had time. This home is one of those house that just pops and sticks right out due to the style and shape of the home.
On July 24th 2010, thousands of people around the world uploaded videos of their lives to YouTube to take part in Life in a Day. It's a historic cinematic experiment to create a documentary film about a single day on earth. It's also like a documentary that serves as a time capsule to show the future generations what it was like to be alive on July 24, 2010.
The film was directed by Oscar winner Kevin Macdonald who wowed audiences at the Sundance, Berlin and SXSW film festivals and during its YouTube world premiere in January. This summer this film will be coming to a movie theater near you. I'm personally interested in seeing this film to see what 80,000 clips and more than 4500 hours of footage compressed into 90 minutes is like for one single day on earth in 2010.
WVIL (Wireless Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens) camera is an amazing concept camera that was envisioned by Artefact design team. This camera features a detachable high quality lens that you can wirelessly control with a touchscreen. It takes the connectivity and applications of modern smart phones and connect them with interchangeable DSLR quality optics. This camera will allow users to experience photography with new choices in different angles. I would definitely get one of these especially because the user interface that was shown in the video below looks innovative. It also looks to have a clear and easy to use navigate system. Canadian architecture firm Naturehumaine had some challenges on this home due to foundation issues but found a way around it. They decided the best plan of action was to compress the spaces on numerous split-levels to yield the space needed per the clients request. This home has some serious rough around the edges appeal but it works. They kept some of the raw elements throughout the interior and exterior to give the home simple yet stylish look. The vaulted ceiling in the dining area is great and gives the home more natural light. Plus the cabinets in the kitchen are very stylish and it somehow works well with the wood flooring.
The QTvan is the world's smallest caravan and is named this way due to it caters to three British obsessions: queuing, tea and caravans. This QTvan is also environmentally-friendly as well which is always a plus, but make no mistake, with green comes a higher price. You are looking to spend around (£5,500) or ($8,000) for this caravan.
The Environmental Transport Association (ETA) developed the QTvan to highlight the estimated 220,000 people who use a mobility scooter without breakdown cover and face the prospect of a very long wait should they suffer a mechanical fault or their battery runs flat. In doing so they made it so you can relax in style while you wait. This bad boy comes with a 19" TV, radio, alarm clock, book shelves, a full sized single bed and cooking facilities. You can't go wrong with that.
I thought this was a pretty interesting product that some of you would find useful. Plus, it's at a decent price that most people can afford. It's the Cobra Phone Tag ($60) which basically keeps track of valuable items nearby like your purse, laptop bag or car keys. It uses a Bluetooth connection between the included dongle and your iPhone, Android device, or BlackBerry to let you know if your tagged item has left the vicinity. It will immediately sends you an email or text message with GPS coordinates when it happens, and works the other way around, too, letting you "ring" your smartphone from the PhoneTag.
Bianca Chang who is a full-time junior designer is also a paper artist, illustrator and creative problem solver based in Sydney, Australia. All her sculptures are cut by hand using only a pencil, ruler, compass point, blade and of course 100% recycled paper. Below is a video showing the layers and detail of her design of the letter A. Her Letter A has 180 hand-cut layers of 80gsm paper, which is fascinating seeing how she creates her sculptures and how much time it has to take.
Last month I put "Bury Us Alive" by Starfucker in Playlist-24 and I became a fan immediately. So being that I was impressed by this one track I had to get their whole album Reptilians. Let me tell you this album is full of rocking atmospheric tracks with an endlessly array of catchy tunes. The band even uses some great philosophical samples here and there that works well with the feel of the album. This band which most would consider them pop have found a way to enter this realm of synth-pop and have been quite successfully at it. This band uses the right touch of synth and vocal styles to pull off a good pop band. So have a listen to the album below and let me know what you think of Starfucker.
This home which is one of the oldest houses in San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighborhood was in desperate need of revamping. Feldman Architecture was in charge of repairing and expanding and modernizing the small, dark house while maintain the rustic charm of the 1860's cottage. What I like about this house is the careful mixing of rough stone and wood with clean glass and metal which makes the home pop with rustic yet modern.
The Hang Out Music Festival is the only festival of its kind. It's located on the beautiful Gulf Shores of Alabama.
