Atelier Olschinsky first caught my attention with his photography of the 1000km series, but then I stumbled upon his website. There, I found more inspiration and great work from Atelier, especially his Legendary Cities poster set. It was one of those finds that I just found intricate and well designed. The detail that was put into these posters is amazing and each city represent a comic style city. He also has two other series Cities II and Cities III that are worth checking out as well.
What is the browsing only project? It's a project that focuses on the unloved books of the world, ones that forever sit on the shelves and go unsold. These books were collected from various bookstores and designers were invited to use them as canvases to express their creativity. This catalogue features both series one & two of the project and the 45 designers that contributed and it shows the "before & after" results as well.
There are only 300 copies that were printed and circulated around the world's good bookstores, shops and design studios just for people to browse. The catalogue will only stay for a short period of time before it's collected and passed on to another location. Condition of the catalogues and the places they been are document and can be found here.

The dance crazy posters below were created by Amy Rodchester for the Newcastle Festival of Dance. I was quite intrigued with Amy's choice of visualization with her design. She describes her ideas and elements on her site and this is what she had to say:
The design of the posters visualise any pair of feet in any pair of shoes being able to dance and aims to encourage people to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. The 3D element of the posters engages and intrigues viewers. Each poster targets a different generation, inspiring children to dance, encouraging youths to be creative, motivating adults to continue exercise and reminding the elderly of their time in the old dance halls. If you want to check out more of Amy's work you can do so here.

Genis Carreras is the creator behind this stimulating series of Philographics posters. In this series, Genis is trying to explain the complex philosophical theories through basic shapes and a paragraph of text. The simplicity in these poster gives me a direct understanding of the concept while still proving to be very elegant. Check out more of Genis' site and see what you find.

Here is a series that will give you a visual approach on the important things in life. Erin Hanson has created this intuitive series to show that most people "want" everything, but they really only "need" enough to survive. I thought this was a pretty clever series. I also checked out more of Erin's work and was quite impressed with the various ideas she came up with. Stop on over to Recovering Lazyholic and see more of her work.

I came across Dan Matutina's work this morning while trying to find some inspiration for the day. Dan Matutina a.k.a Twisterfork is a designer and illustrator based in the Philippines. His illustration style is a mix of handmade and digital, clean and dirty, old and modern aesthetics. The colors and the shapes and tones are what are really driving the force behind his amazing work. I have put a couple that I'm really liking but don't let that stop you from checking out more of his work.

I'm digging this series done by graphic designer Nick Agin. In his "Old Timey Star Wars" series where he basically captures not only a galaxy far, far away but also an era from the past. Where being in your Sunday's best is the way to go. My favorite one is the Pvt. 1st Class 1057 Storm Trooper. Check out more of Nick's work here

Tim Wan is the creator of the Predictions Calendar Series. He states, "It's a series that interprets the definition of fakery by tampering with true events; placing them outside their original context to mislead, trigger nostalgia, and remind people of past events". It was such a success that it was awarded membership to International l Society of Typographic Designers. Not bad for someone who just graduated.
I personally find these calendars to be a great example of good design from the color palette choices to the layout and typography used in the design of these calendars. To bad these are not for sale. If they were they would be hanging in my house right now.

Broken Time Machines, which is Alex Varanese musical side project has just released the first single "The Ghost of Mission Street". It's a six-minute exploration of spacey, dreamy pop melodies with a glitch of electro and layered percussion. Not only does this track have a unique but day dreaming quality, it's also accompanied by a surreal and believable location with less-than believable details, such as the deconstructing jetliner seen through a concrete atrium.
I think this is a great combination of art and music brought into this project and I look forward to hearing more tracks by Broken Time Machines. If you want to check out more of Alex's work I highly suggest it. Don't forget to download your copy of The Ghost of Mission Street.

FP7 is an ad agency that was looking for some promotional posters for an event as well as to hand out to the clients. The idea behind these posters was to base the posters on key insights about the agency world, that would make someone think. In the terms of design though, Ryan Atkinson and Steve De Lange went with the classic but edgy look using typography and the grid system to generate these minimal promotional posters. The agency wanted to have posters that the clients or future employee would want to keep. If I worked for this company I would definitely want a couple of these posters. If you want to check out more posters in this series you can find them on Behance
