Poritz & Studio have created these beautiful handmade toolboxes ($180-$265) from reclaimed hardwood in either walnut or teak. The interior tray is for screws, nails and storage of other small items. Large lower compartment for hammers and screwdrivers. The toolbox has a smart stacking design. The upper tray and lid slot go seamlessly through the handle and all fused with finger joints. Check out the other products that Poritz & Studio have created.
The Homestead Hook ($38) is a new product created by Domenic Fiorello Studio. The form of the Homestead hook is made using the technique of bent lamination, a technique mastered by the Eames Studio. So go ahead and pick some up to spruce up your pad. Keep one by your bedside door and never forget your keys, belt and tie again. Try one in the kitchen for your hand towels, or scatter multiples across a living room wall for a great accent to your space.

So many Whiskeys? Where do you start? Why not let The Many Varieties of Whiskey Wood Engraving ($185) help so you can keep track of them all. Laser-engraved onto a piece of sustainably harvested cherry veneer, this premium print covers all the major varieties of whiskey — Irish, American, Canadian, and Scotch — breaking them down further into groups like Rye, Blended, and Single Malt. The whole thing is encased in a custom walnut frame, and features an engraved cork at the center and whiskey barrel-like steel strapping at the top and bottom, with brass accents. Assembled by hand in Brooklyn.

Paul Timmer an Amsterdam-based designer crafted this solid ash vibration absorbing wooden bike. This bike is made from solid ash and has no veneer or plywood enchantments. It weighs about 24 lbs and this is due to its timber frame. Since it absorbs vibrations you can expect that it is an exceptionally comfortable ride. This bike has an unusual fork construction which, is going through the frame, and is fixed by outside bearing. The design is also extended to the handlebars, which keeps the grain intact and makes it much stronger than if it was in two parts. It also uses a lighter and more durable belt instead of a chain. Check out below on a few words from the designer.
‘I don’t use wood for some kind of temporary solutions, wood is the best construction material available. it is the only construction material made by mother earth. this bike can be as strong as a steel one. but it has to be designed better than a steel bike. as always, the challenges are in the details.’ said Paul Timmer. So what do you think about the bike and the design?
